The solar farm produces about 5 million kilowatt hours per year of renewable electricity, enough to power over 1,250 average UK households. The site was selected due to its flat fields, a location secluded from local residents but also close to the M5 to facilitate construction traffic access. Construction of the solar farm commenced in November 2013 and it has been operational since 1 March 2014. Grazing of sheep continues on the fields.
