The site was selected as it is completely invisible from the public highways and any other public rights of way. It is surrounded by mature hedges and trees. The land is low-grade on a former coal mine and slopes gently southwards. A public consultation was held at the local town hall, and a planning application submitted. Planning consent was granted and construction completed in summer 2015. The solar farm is operational.
